Brian M. Viveros – Viva la Muerte
Internationally renowned artist Brian M. Viveros has a very distinctive style. His highly detailed paintings of bold beauties provoke a special poetry. His paintings are fighters and survivors of war. The artist’s portraits show cult heroines who emerge from battle as victors.
A technical perfectionist, Brian Viveros’s oil, airbrush, acrylic and ink paintings are packed with pigment, brightness and depth, while his paintings are sharp and simple. Moreover, the artist’s focus lies more on focal points such as eyes, lips and skin. The paintings have a cinematic effect as they give a suggestive impression of narrative and iconic motifs.
Works and exhibitions:
His recognition and exhibition was significantly boosted by his participation in a major group exhibition in Switzerland in the year 1997. Ever since then, Viveros’s works have become well known throughout North America and Europe. Brian M. Viveros’s paintings appear predominantly in print.
In addition to his work in painting, Brian M. Viveros has expanded his practice to also include film. His short film Dislandia, which debuted in 2005, explores the hopeless, dreamlike world of a young girl. The surreal psychodrama has images ranging from the bizarre to the symbolic. “Southern”, Viveros’s first full-length surreal film, is also a highly stylised exploration. His other recent films include: “Tercio De Muerte” and Little Eleusinian Mysteries. Viveros’s cinematic work captures something eerily powerful and symbolic from the depths of our fraught psyche, yet still holds us captive by an undeniably seductive urge to keep going.
