Francis Tucker – Absolut Disco
Francis Tucker was born in Cologne in 1964. Following his studies in 1995, he began to focus his work around the style of Pop Art. In his colourful paintings simple figures are often represented by only a black start of a line. In addition, his figures carry the name “Tucker”.
The line as a central design feature imparts its essential content to his paintings. There appears to be a visual reference to the American artist Keith Haring, who died in 1990.
But on closer inspection it quickly becomes clear that Francis Tucker’s paintings are motionless. They are actionless, yet leading actors who acquire meaning in a colourful world, to the point of essentiality with a strong expression in its totality.
Happiness, mostly at first glance.
Characteristic of the painter’s work is the diversity of his colourful expressions using acrylic paint on different materials. Some of his paintings are already in public German collections. They are also in private collections throughout Europe as well as in New York.
