c.mank | Camille Mank – X-ray #36
c.mank is a painter, conceptual artist and computer scientist from Cologne. Thematically, she is dedicated to the social issues of our time and is particularly concerned with the profound changes in the reality of life through the rapid development of the digital world. Manks position is characterized by looking below the surface and depicting what is not necessarily visible, but nevertheless present.
She reworks images she finds in the media, reconstructs them in templates, and places them in various contexts by applying typical cultural techniques of the Internet era such as sampling, remixing, fragmenting, varying, quoting, adapting, and collaborating.
Since years, Mank followed street art with interest and began to capture her own combination of classic pop art with contemporary street art. Her paintings have a minmalistic visual language reminiscent of comics, focusing on reduction of forms, clean lines and intensity of colors.
