Ottograph – Candy Girl
Ottograph, a large-scale muralist, has been slinging paint since the age of ten. Starting out in Amsterdam, where he is originally from, and then moving on to become an internationally sought-after artist, Ottograph has established himself squarely in the middle of the global street and graffiti art movement. Simultaneously though, Ottograph has bridged the fine art gap with his work, an advantage that comes with age and time dedicated to painting. The Modern Art Museum of Antwerpen in Belgium is home to a giant Ottograph mural.
Ottograph started painting on the subways in Amsterdam when he was merely 13 years old, and evolved into making giant floor and mural paintings. Ottograph also painted murals in Moscow, Tokyo, Berlin New York and San Fancisco. His contribution to street art extends beyond his own work, as he is also a community leader, having organized several cooperative painting commissions and operating the website “I Paint Everyday” to encourage the tedious, yet necessary practice of serious painting.
Recently Ottograph painted a giant mural for the Straatmuseum in Amsterdam. He has worked for clients like Greenpeace, Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, Mars, Ford, and Mercedes-Benz.
Further notes on Candy Girl:
In the spring of 2019 Ottograph started painting his self-portrait on the walls of Amsterdam. His goal is to paint 1000 “selfies”, as he calls them. Currently he’s working on selfie number 320.
A poster and stickers of the first 100 selfies are included with the painting.
